An Autumn Wreath Making Day on Wimbee Creek Farm
A day on Wimbee Creek Farm begins with gathering at the Flower Barn for morning coffee and freshly baked coffee cake. We’ll meet and greet and share stories of the farm’s history, flowers and friendship as we prepare for the day ahead. Designated work stations will be set up so that you can be comfortable and safely distanced to enjoy the day’s activities.
Our morning continues as we have a walking tour of the farm’s flower production areas. You’ll meet the chickens and of course Romeo, the wonder dog. We’ll share our experiences with you of growing flowers year round, we’ll talk about annuals and perennials, garden roses and more. Seasonality is a very important topic in the fall, of course, as we think of how to create a wreath that brings the growing season to an end by preserving the beauty.
Returning to the Flower Barn, we’ll discuss and demonstrate various ways to construct a lasting seasonal wreath as we guide and help you make choices and launch your own creativity. We will be in the open barn and outdoors with responsible social distancing taken into consideration.
Lunch may be the best part! We provide a mostly vegetarian meal (sometimes we have pickled shrimp on the menu), and we are happy to take requests for special dietary considerations. Our menu is “farm to table” utilizing elements from our garden and our chickens eggs as much as possible. Lunch takes place under the oak trees by the water on the farmhouse back porch. It’s a lovely setting and we are so happy to have you join us there. Lunch also is prepared with social distancing measures in place as well.
I hope everyone will be able to spend a day with us here on the farm. We are getting geared up with beautiful blooms and elements to provide you with a day to remember.
All tools, flowers and containers are included for you to create your own seasonal wreath to take home with you.
